federico-airaudo
Federico Airaudo

Federico Airaudo is an Ecuadorian artist and newcomer to Calgary. Often described as a Latin American “Where’s Waldo”, his ultra-bright acrylic paintings are brimming with human-animal characters, satirical humour, and winding storylines. Federico’s jam-packed visual scenarios follow a busy constellation of intersecting characters that animate ordinary life and cultural mannerisms of various regions of Ecuador. Federico’s residency at the Werklund Centre researches the layers of animality in Ecuador and Calgary as an active presence rather than a backdrop to human activity. His work playfully leans into the symbolic tensions of human-animal exchanges across distinct urban scenes—full with ironies and contradictions.

Contact & Where to Find Them:

Address: Lightbox Studio, Werklund Centre, Main Level, 205 8 Avenue SE, Calgary, AB, T2G 0K9

Wheelchair accessible: Yes

Email: federairaudo@gmail.com

WEBSITE INSTAGRAM

Parking &/or Access Considerations: Werklund Centre is at 205 - 8th Avenue SE, adjacent to Olympic Plaza to the north, and west of City Hall. The Lightbox Studio is located on the ground level close by to the Martha Cohen Theatre entrance. Werklund Centre is connected by the +15 Network to the City Hall parkade. +15 access to Werklund Centre from the Telus Convention Centre/Glenbow Museum is currently open.
